Favorite Things

Ice Cream

Ice cream makes a celebration and if you haven’t had ice cream, your celebration is incomplete.   Old-fashioned homemade is best.  I have gone out in a blizzard to get ice cream because I didn’t have any at home.

I have some favorite flavors such as  French Vanilla, Rum Raisin, and Cherry Garcia, but strawberry is my favorite flavor of all time.

Strawberries

This fruit intrigues me.  It grows when it’s cold and I think of them as the jewel of all fruit.  At their peak of ripeness and redness, I cannot get enough.  The sweeter and the bigger they are, the better they are.

Walking

Considered good for your heart and health.  But when I walk I feel closest to God.   Anywhere and any season is good for me.

Coffee

If I am ever able to put a scent on this Blog, it will be fresh brewed and if I am ever told I can’t have coffee, I will be installing a boo-hoo button

Cars, Furniture, Clothing, Jewelry

I love the idea that someone can be so enamored with an old something, that they want to bring it back to life, love and luster.

Roses and Daisies

These are two flowers that are opposites, but that defy opposition (Did you expect something else from me?).

Roses need delicate care to bloom at their best.  But I’ll take a hardy rose growing among weeds and rocks in my bouquet anytime.

Daises can grow almost anywhere and their color can be changed for a whim.  I like them in their natural white with the yellow center and their cousin, whom I remember growing up, being known, as the “black-Eyed Susie”.

Invictus by W.E. Henley

You’ll have to read it and feel the spirit for yourself.  It needs no help from me.

TV Commercial

The Traveler’s Insurance commercial where the little dog has nightmares about protecting his bone.  This is how I feel some days.  I am a worrier and I worry about working forever.  I worry being too old to be hired.  I worry about being an old lady with no bone.

Cable TV Shows

I enjoy all subjects creative:  Cooking, Baking, Decorating, Designing, DIY, Yoga, Art,

Music

Jazz, Blues, Country, Classic, Opera, Popular, you name it.  But, Gospel first, second and always is my favorite.

If am going through a bad time, nothing lifts me up like good old-fashioned gospel music.  The newer neo-Gospel is cool, but I remember my grandmother’s Gospel – the deep, moany-groany over-yonder kind that washed over and cleaned me like a good shower.

If I listen long enough, I find myself singing and getting spiritual along with the music and pretty soon I am feeling good and happy and brand new again.
